Replacing an existing lean-to shed, this new Garden Pavilion to the rear garden of a home in Ranelagh, Dublin, provides additional accommodation for the main house, a Protected Structure.
The new single-storey free-standing structure is designed to be contemporary in form and detailing, while using a traditional palette of external materials familiar to the older surroundings – cut stone walls, painted timber elements and a pitched and slated roof.
As well as providing garden storage space, the pavilion has two main rooms – for use as a lounge/play room and home office – along with a shower room.
The two main rooms have timber lined walls, sloping ceilings and rooflights to allow natural light in from above.
